To be an Avatar - Video Games and Clickable Cultures

The course “To be an Avatar, Video Games and Clickable Cultures” explores the world of the videogames on a basic level. In the course we will come closer to understanding the significance of our times newest storytelling art form.

How are videogames developed? Which components are games built of? And how do components such as (visual) narrative and game-structure intertwine? How are games portrayed?

How do the pictures, the storyline, the space of the game and our own projection of self, co-create a desirable gameplay?

To answer these questions we will have a closer look at our culture: through film, art, photography and architecture we will zoom away from the actual videogame and simultaneously pick it apart.
