Welcome to our International Club

Programme for activities during autumn 2011

Friday October 7

October party – A huge party at the Department organized by the students.
Buy tickets at the reception/office at Kulturanatomen, 1st floor for 20 SEK which includes a two course dinner, a mystery quiz “The Murder at Kulturanatomen” and lots of other entertainment. Bring your own drinks.

For more information, please see the posters or contact the office.

Friday October 21
Amber, Seals and Birds

An excursion to the beaches at the Falsterbo peninsula. Autumn in Falsterbo can be quite spectacular with deserted sandy beaches. Every autumn about 500 million birds migrate across southern Sweden. We will hopefully also spot seals and find amber on the shore.

Bring warm clothes, sturdy boots and fika.
We will leave by train from Lund Central Station at around 13:00 and we plan to be back in Lund around 18:00. Travel fare around 160 SEK.

If you want to join the excursion or if you have any questions e-mail Lars, lars.persson@kultur.lu.se no later than October 19.

Baking Buns with Britt!

A cook a long where you will learn to bake some Swedish pastry together with the Department’s own baking celebrity. While enjoying the freshly made buns, we will get the opportunity to listen to an interesting talk by one of our researchers.

If you want to join, contact Lars, lars.persson@kultur.lu.se no later than November 7. The activity is free of charge.

Tuesday December 13
Saint Lucia – the bearer of light

Lucia procession, carols, saffron buns (lussekatter) and potluck dinner.
Alongside Midsummer, the Lucia celebration is one of the most appreciated cultural traditions in Sweden. Lucia is celebrated on December 13.

After experiencing the Lucia celebration, we will round off the International Club’s autumn activities with a potluck party. Bring a typical dish from your country and share it with your fellow students and teachers.

If you want to join, contact Charlotte, charlotte.hagstrom@kultur.lu.se no later than December 6.
