Föreläsning, 350-årsjubileum

Nikolas Rose is professor of sociology at Kings’s College London. His research has centred on the sociology of psychiatry and health, specifically how developments in science have altered conceptions of human identity and governance.

This open lecture is organized by The Cultural Studies Group of Neuroscience (Bagadilico) and is part of the open Medical Humanities Seminar series hosted by the Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences.

Nikolas Rose is the author of several well-known books on this topic such as Governing the Soul: The Shaping of the Private Self and The Politics of Life Itself: Biomedicine, Power, and Subjectivity in the Twenty-First Century. Together with Joelle M Abi-Rached he has co-authord Neuro: The New Brain Sciences and the Management of the Mind (2013) in which the authors describe the developments leading to the influence of neuroscience outside medicine.
