Round table discussion at Sten K Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship
Spotify and Skype are examples of firms that directly set out to reach a global market. They are what we call “born globals”. Many born globals have a high growth potential. Therefore policy makers try to promote such firms. However, most new firms seem to prefer a slower internationalization process, if any. Why is that? What consequences does rapid international growth bring to a new firm? What are the advantages and drawbacks of growing internationally at a slower pace? Is rapid internationalization necessary in certain industries? Or is it all about management and aspirations? And, how do we better inform policy makers?
We will try to answer these questions, and many more!
