Abstract: Echography is a low cost, non-invasive medical imaging modality that is used to detect various pathologies in a clinical context. In the first part of the talk, a generic model for the echo envelope in the far field regime is presented. Then, various statistical models of the echo envelope are discussed. In the third part of the talk, an example of tissue characterization based on statistical parameters of the echo envelope is presented in the context of red blood cells aggregation. The final part of the talk concerns the segmentation of atherosclerotic carotid artery plaques in a Bayesian framework.
