Student of the Month
Anna Runemark

My name is Anna Runemark and I am a PhD-student in the Erik Svensson lab since January 2007. I am interested in the evolutionary processes that generate reproductive isolation.

My current research focuses on the patterns and causes of morphological differentiation in subdivided populations of Skyros wall lizard, Podarcis gaigeae, and the consequences of this morphological differentiation in terms of sexual isolation.

I am also involved in a study where we investigate if reproductive isolation between two demoiselles species of the genus Calopteryx involve learnt mate preferences.

I am broadly interested in evolution and conservation biology, and my Masters’ thesis was a Minor Field Study founded by SIDA where I studied if there was a statistical basis for relocating the eggs of the leatherback turtle to enhance egg survival on a beach in Costa Rica, under the supervision of Mats Björklund, Uppsala University.
