Examen: Masterexamen

Lund University offers you a unique opportunity to pursue advanced studies in languages and linguistics at Master s level. The Centre for Languages and Literature offers students access to the most modern resources for research and education. You will meet and study together with students from 15 different fields of specialisation. The languages of instruction are English and the language corresponding to the field of your specialisation. As a Master s student, you will have the possibility of receiving funding for a stay abroad to conduct research on your Master s thesis through grants available from the Birgit Rausing Language Programme.

Students aiming for a Master s degree with a specialisation in Swedish/Scandinavian languages will meet a research community that is particularly strong in generative grammar and in research on text and discourse. We focus mainly on Swedish, but other Scandinavian varieties and sometimes even other Germanic and non-Germanic languages are also dealt with. At Master s level we offer courses in grammatical theory, word formation, discourse analysis, semantics and lexicology, and linguistic change, which are all relatively general in their scope, whereas courses on linguistic variation within Scandinavian and Scandinavian historical linguistics have a more specifically Scandinavian perspective.

With a Master´s degree in Language and Linguistics, you are attractive for employers looking for a highly qualified individual with specialised knowledge in communication and language. An international MA in Language and Linguistics also provides you with the academic background you need in order to apply for doctoral studies in languages and linguistics.
