Examen: Masterexamen

The Master of Science Programme (120 credits) in Social Science, Sociology of Law - European Law (SELA) focus on commonalities and differences in legal cultures and understanding of law within Europe with a special emphasis on the European Union. The objective of the program is to increase the students ability to critically examine and evaluate the most important theoretical perspectives and research results exploring the preconditions for as well as the content and impact of European legalisation and its surrounding from a perspective of Sociology of Law. Students will acquire a critical social science approach towards the central issues related to the legal cultures within the European states and will conduct their own research within the context of the Master´s thesis.

The programme offers a wide range of alternatives courses for the individual student within the International School of Social Science providing students with deeper knowledge in their major discipline or in other fields beneficial to their research interests. Students can also choose from several courses in research method to adapt the programme to their particular interests. There are also good opportunities to go abroad and take courses at one of the many universities with which we have exchange agreements. Students who wish to work in European Union law-related fields can also choose to do an internship. You can work, for example, in regional and national agencies spread over Europe, in the EU s a range of agencies and in various NGOs.

Career prospects

The programme prepares students for PhD studies and academic careers, and is also suited to those who aim to work with social, cultural, historical, organizational aspects of legal integration and development of Europe as policy makers or practitioners in government, regional and EU agencies, private firms and NGOs.
