The Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) at Lund University was inaugurated in 2007 to coordinate and develop education and research within the university working on the region across various disciplines.
The purpose of the center is to utilize existing capacities at Lund University and create new competence at the center to encourage and produce research and academic opportunities with an innovative, critical and cross-disciplinary approach towards Middle Eastern Studies.
What is truly unique about CMES is its pursuit for an atmosphere and structure that focuses on mentorship, openness and personal development. We strive to take a more comprehensive and cross-disciplinary approach to education and research on the region, life style and institutional structure.
