Master's Degree Programmes Application - Step by Step Guide

This guide will help you make your application for a Master's Programme. Applications are processed by the Swedish National Admissions Office. Their admissions website is called Studera.nu.

Apply - studera.nu - application site for all Swedish universities and university colleges

Your application is made online. This service is for all students, regardless of their country of origin. Documentation (e.g. certificates, transcripts) will need to be sent by post to the address given at studera.nu. Documents are not sent to the university.

Step 1. Find a Programme.

A list of our Master's Programmes can be found at:

Find Programmes and Apply

Step 2. Are You Qualified?

Check that you fulfil both the general requirements for studying at the University, and the specific requirements for the programme you are interested in.

Enrolment to our master's programmes usually requires you to have an undergraduate degree in the same, or related subject.

Entry requirements - general and specific

Step 3. Online Application

Online applications are made from the central Swedish application site, studera.nu. Applications cannot be made except during the application periods.

At studera.nu you will create an account and select the master's programme, or programmes, you wish to do.

The easiest way to apply is:

1. Select a programme at:

Find programme and apply

2. Click the 'Apply Now' button at the bottom of the programme information - this will take you to studera.nu

3. Complete your application at studera.nu

Erasmus Programmes and students in an exchange programme please note: The Erasmus programmes have a different application process.. Please check with the programme coordinator if you are unsure how to begin your application. Exchange students begin the application process at their own university, and do not use studera.nu.

Step 4. Arrange for your Documentation to Be Sent to Sweden

Your documents are not sent to Lund University. They go to the Swedish National Admissions Office as part of your application at studera.nu.

What documents to send and special rules for certain countries at Studera.nu

Step 5. Acceptance, Conditional Acceptance or Rejection

The programme you have applied to will contact you to confirm if you want to keep your place and come to Lund.

It is compulsory that you confirm acceptance otherwise your place will be given to another student. If your chosen programme is oversubscribed, you must also confirm that you wish to remain on the waiting list.

If you are on the waiting list for a place, you will be notified if a place becomes available. This may be, however, very close to the programme start date.

Step 6. Preregistration/Arrival/Housing

If you are accepted to a Master's Programme at Lund you need to begin finding somewhere to live and prepare for coming to Sweden. The University can support you with practical matters and finding somewhere to live, but you must preregister first. The university's housing office does not guarantee every student a room.
