Ytterligare information: PANEL: "Travelling Concepts on Interdisciplinarity, Selves and Interculturality: Collaborative Learning" , 7th European Feminist Research Conference. 4 – 7 June 2009, Utrecht Coordinators: Giovanna Covi, University of Trento, and Sara Goodman Lund University, Participants: Joan Anim-Addo, University of London, Goldsmith; Assimina Karavanta, University of Athens; Melita Richter, University of Trieste; Sabine Grenz, University of Gothenburg. The Athena3 Research Group Travelling Concepts presents the results of the work shared by its three sub-groups committed to the critical exploration of feminist practices/theories of interdisciplinarity, interculturality and identity. Coordinators Giovanna Covi and Sara Goodman together with the panel will reflect upon issues of travelling concepts and how feminist pedagogies are developed, transformed and translated in the multiple European contexts represented within the Travelling Concepts Group. Specifically, the subgroup on Interdisciplinarity coordinated by Sabine Grenz has organized an LLP-IP course on interdisciplinary gender studies in the summer of 2008 at the University of Njiemegen. The framing of the project is found in the previous publication by the group, Practising Interdisciplinarity in Gender Studies (Raw Nerve). The sub-group will offer a reflection on their "practised interdisciplinarity", its challenges and rewards based on this shared experience. The sub-group on Travelling Selves, lead by Melita Richter has focused on learning from each member how to reformulate definitions of selfhood that accommodate the idea of travel. The sub-group will illustrate such re-presentations based on autobiographical as well as theoretical sources and plan to provoke the audience with representations of selfhood that wrench identity from its fixed and linear category. Finally, the sub-group ReSisters on Interculturality, lead by Joan Anim-Addo and Mina Karavanta, grounding its new research on the premises illustrated in the publication ReSisters in Conversation (Raw Nerve), will explore the collaborative teaching experiences at the universities of Athens and Trento, which experiment ways of teaching gender and interculturality together with students and in multiple languages. This sub-group has additionally a strong emphasis on critical feminist pedagogies, black women in Europe and anti-racism. A final discussion will engage the audience to articulate interconnections among these three thematic approaches to the question of travelling concepts in feminist pedagogy and their implications for feminist discourse.
