Författare

  • Åsa Alftberg

Summary, in English

Ageing significantly alters the body in different ways, especially our perception and experience of it. In the phenomenological perspective, the human mind and body are intertwined with each other as well as intertwined with the surrounding world; consequently an altered body will affect the experience of both self and the world. This article discuss how and when ageing and old age affect the experiences of the body and the world and how are these experiences are interpreted by the individual. The empirical examples derive from interviews and participant observations with men and women, eighty years or older.
