Modeling of a Steam Heated Rotating Cylinder-A Grey-Box Approach

In English Drying is an important process in paper manufacturing, where steam heated cylinders are used to dry paper. Control of the moisture content is accomplished by adjusting the steam pressure in the cylinders. In previous work it has been shown that the dynamics from steam flow to steam pressure in the cylinder can be described by a linear second order black box model. This paper presents a first principles model which has a structure similar to the black box model.
