Summary, in English
This chapter attends the history of the nature/nurture debate and asserts the constancy of biological explanations of human nature within psychiatry up to this day. It elucidates the connection between social darwinism and contemporary individualism, claiming the degeneration theory of the 19th century to be an intermediate link. Finally, it scrutinizes not only the origin of but also the consequences of the neuropsychiatric diagnostic culture, which is dominant at present.
