Summary, in English
"Early Modern Text Recycing: On the Study of Neolatin Texts". The study of Neo-Latin texts is discussed with special regard to intertextuality. It is argued that intertextuality in Neo-Latin texts depends partly on the fact that Latin was learnt through imitation, partly on the existence of a rich variety of multifaceted texts - which cannot be classed as either "literary" or "non-literary" - within the learned Republic of Letters. Texts were widely spread and read, and the subtexts of Neo-Latin texts are to a high extent tother texts from the Early Modern period. The Latin correspondence of the Swedish poet Sophia Elisabeth Brenner is taken as an example. This correspondence depended heavily on that of the famous Dutch scholar and author Anna Maria van Schurman. Her correspondence served as a model both with regard to the interaction between the correspondents and to literary style. Passages are echoed, transformed, "recycled". The challenge for the Neo-Latin scholar is to gain an increased awareness of the importance of intertextuality in the studied texts, and to place them fruitfully within a literary tradition. Close interdisciplinary cooperation facilitates this process.
