Industrializing the construction sector through innovation – Tolerance Dilemma
Författare
Summary, in English
The industrialization increases the demands being placed on precision and tolerance levels. This concerns both the details of individual components and the manner of coordinating the functioning of the system as a whole. The aim of this paper is to use the result of a case study for a discussion that points out specific problems that the construction industry have to deal with in order to continue its ambition towards an increased industrialisation and innovative culture.
In the case study the lack of communicating tolerances and precision adequately was the reason for the problem in an innovative construction project. The building industry should be well aware of the important role of tolerances and measurement techniques, since poor measuring quality can have very negative consequences. Having access to clear metrological competence is important for enabling sound construction work to perform.
