The International Housing Office manages a limited number of rooms and flats in Lund. Due to the great demand for accommodation we are unable to guarantee you a room.
Please note that we are unable to offer family-accommodation. The flats are normally reserved for couples where both applicants are accepted for studies at Lund University. No pets are allowed in our accommodations.
In the on-line application for exchange studies you apply for
accommodation as well. Application periods are March 1 - April 25 and
September 1 - October 25.
If we can offer you a room we will inform you of this via your
"follow you status"-page:
Follow
your application!
We will not update the "follow your
status"-page until at least two weeks after the application period is
over:
Closing date for the Autumn term: April 25th
Closing date for the
Spring term: October 25th
This means that your status will remain
as "Received" until at least two weeks after that date. When we update
your status it will read either "confirmed unpaid" or "waiting list". In
both cases information will appear as to what you should do next.
In
order to be assigned a room the Housing Office must have received notice
from a coordinator at Lund University that you have been accepted for
study. Without this notification the Housing Office is unable to offer
you a room. Please note! If you apply outside the application period you
have to attach a valid Letter of Acceptance. Be aware of the fact
that you may not get a room through the International Housing Office
even if you apply on time. You should therefore, be prepared to look for
private accommodation. For your own sake, see that your accommodation is
settled in advance; this is your own responsibility.
As in many other university towns, the housing situation in Lund is very
difficult. Lund is a very large university in a small town. Sweden does
not have a campus accommodation system as certain other countries do,
and students are therefore obliged to find housing pretty much on their
own.
We try to place all students who have applied in time, and
who choose to come to Lund, in some form of temporary accommodation, at
their own expense, until they are either offered a room by the
International Housing Office or find private accommodation. In such a
case, please be prepared to spend some time looking for accommodation
and please note that it is your own responsibility to find a suitable
place to live. This will involve time, perhaps additional expenses, and
above all, patience.
