Office for Continuing and Distance Education

Mission

The office was set up in 1996 to meet the increasing needs for continuing higher education. Continuing education and lifelong learning are high priority areas for Lund University as has also been manifested in documents by the Vice-Chancellor and the University Board.

Staff

The regular staff at the office is fairly small, while several more people are affiliated in a variety of national and international ongoing projects.

Continuing Education

Lifelong learning and continuing education are essential and integral parts of activities at Lund University. The role of the office is to validate, promote and develop courses in close cooperation with departments and individual teachers and in connection with society’s demands.

Distance Education

The demand for higher education provided by Internet-based courses has increased during the last years. Lund Net University was set up to meet these new demands, and to make it possible for students to participate in university education independently of place or time. A majority of courses is offered through the university’s webplatform LUVIT.
