GENECO Annual Meetings

Geneco Research School has two annual meetings where all PhD-students and supervisors gather to network and listen to presentations of various kinds concerning Genomic Ecology and related issues.

Summer meeting 2010

At Hovs Hallar August 25-26

To this year's summermeeting we have invited four world-leading scientists that together cover a broad spectrum of research in "Genomic Ecology and Evolution".

The invited speakers will give talks Day 1. Thereafter, PhD-students will present their research in smaller groups, chaired by the invited speakers. More discussion seminars follow on Day 2, on topics that will be chosen by the speakers.

Hovs Hallar is as far northeast as you can go in Skåne with on of the most dramatic sceneries in the region. Our hotel is just be the Sea. There will be opportunities to take part in excursions.

Winter meeting 2010

The meeting took place at Grand Hotel in Lund. The morning session was filled with interesting presentations of Geneco's brilliant PhD-students, and a longer talk by Geneco's Director Karin Rengefors.

At the workshop "Thinking outside the box - utilization of your research" in the afternoon, a collaborration with LU Innovation, Marika Stenberg, Björn Canbäck and Jure Piskur talked about their companies within the egological/genomic area. LU Innovation introduced us to the world of innovations and commercialization of research, which was followed by group discussions, where several genious business ideas from the paritcipants' own research projects arose.

Thinking Outside the Box

Several good business ideas came up during the "Thinking-outside-the-box" workshop with LU Innovation.
