Traditionally the collections at the Lund Museum of Zoology are divided
into the Museum of Entomology and the Museum of Zoology.
The
Museum of Entomology was founded by J.W. Zetterstedt (1784 - 1874), A.G.
Dahlbom (1806 - 1859) and C.G. Thomsons (1824 - 1899) in the middle of
the 19th century. These collections, containing many type specimens, are
still in the custody of the museum.
At the Museum of Zoology
there are two main entries to the collections: Invertebrates and
Vertebrates. The vertebrate collections are then divided into classes
(fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals).
