At the Faculty of Science in Lund courses are offered in the fields of Biology, Computer Science, Physics, Geology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Environmental Science, Molecular Biology and Physical Geography. As an "independent" student, coming to Lund without any exchange agreement between your home university and Lund university, you apply for courses through the same channels as national students. The majority of the courses are given in Swedish.
The courses usually correspond 7.5 - 30 ECTS-credits (5-20 weeks). You
can apply directly for separate subject courses.
Study programmes last for 3-4.5 years and are built up of a combination
of courses aiming towards a broad scientific competence together with a
deeper knowledge of a specific subject. Within each programme is
included both compulsory and elective courses. All courses include
examinations, written and/or oral. There are, however, no final exams
which cover a whole general study programme. Taking part in a programme
means that you have guaranteed admission to certain courses.
The
degree title for programmes corresponding to 120-160 credits (3-4 years
of study) is translated into English as a "Bachelor´s degree". Study
programmes which correspond to 160-180 credits (4-4.5 years) are
translated as Master´s degrees.
