AI Lund lunch seminar: Artificial intelligence and copyright
Title: Artificial intelligence and copyright
When: 30 September to 12.00-13.15
Where: Online - link by registration
Abstract: The seminar will focus on the copyright-related aspect of artificial intelligence (AI). AI poses potential challenges for copyright, i.e. the legal protection of literary and artistic works. Indeed, copyright is an area of law that throughout its history has been strongly influenced by technological development. The law of copyright has been developed and adapted with regard to everything from the advent of the printing press and the ability to record audio and video on various media (phonograms and films), to the ability to make copyright protected content available via the Internet. However, the mentioned recent developments have brought about whether and to which extent established and fundamental copyright concepts – such as “author”, “creativity” and “work” – have to be updated to take into account the development of “creativity” based on self-learning algorithms provided with data (algorithmic creativity). At the seminar, we will provide an – at least introductory – answer to this question.
