the lost echo – Hjördís Gréta Guðmundsdóttir

There is a tapestry that I refer to as the lost echo believed to be from the 17th Century, stored at The Nationalmuseet in Copenhagen. It’s existence has been questioned because of the lack of information about it, and is exhibited here in a form of a possible replacement.
When we walked along the edge, I picked up a stone from the ground. It was covered in lines around the curve, and I knocked it against the rock in hopes of it coming apart. The sound was quick and bright when it broke, like the sound of the lost echo that I measured. The idea was always to celebrate the invisible, but maybe not so literally.
