During the yearly Culture Night in Lund, LTH offers several activities. Below you will find those events in which LTH is represented. For more information, please follow the links.
Guided tour of X-lab
X-Lab is a makerspace in a creative environment where students and employees can work with a number of things, such as creating prototypes. During the guided tour, you will be shown the premises and how various tools work. The tour takes about 20 minutes, with the option to stay afterwards and make your own name badge in acrylics or leather.

Culture Night at the Department of Physics

Lectures in Rydbergsalen, 2 and 3 pm
2–2.30 pm ”God fysik”. Lecturer: Professor Johan Mauritsson
How far can you shoot a champagne cork and how do you measure microwaves with a piece of chocolate? There is loads of exciting physics in the kitchen – welcome to a fun and tasty lecture! Lecture in Swedish.
3–3.30 pm “What is the use of the European spallation source and how to build it in a place with no previous experience of this technology?" Lecturer: Professor Mats Lindroos
Learn more about what kind of research will be done at ESS, how you build such a facility and why we need both ESS and MAX-IV to be world leading in science. Lecture in English.
Science Slam in Rydbergsalen, 7–8 pm
Enjoy fun talks by researchers in a friendly, but competitive, atmosphere. The contenders will each have only five minutes to present their research in an entertaining way, and you get to vote for your favorite to help us determine the winner.
Open day at IKDC celebrating 20th anniversary
Events at IKDC during Culture Night:
Meet the architect, 2.15–3.15 pm
Ingvar Kamprad Designcentrum, also known as IKDC, was finished 2002. Welcome to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the house when the architect Gunilla Svensson tells the story of the building and the thoughts behind the architecture. Virtual tour of Brunnshög, 3–4 pm

Open day at IKDC, 2–5 pm
Discover the labs
- The 3D print lab demonstrates the opportunities with the latest 3D print technique, for example in metal.
- The Light lab offers exciting experiments with light, and demonstrates how you discover flicker in everyday life.
- The VR lab takes you to new virtual realities.

Culture Night at Vattenhallen is free and filled with activities. All visitors need to pre-book tickets for indoor activities (free of charge).
