SUMMARY:Statistics Seminar\, \"Diseased Brownian snails\"\, Geoffrey Grimm
ett FRS\, University of Cambridge
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Kontakt: s.volkov@maths.lth.se\n\n(Please note: unusual time du
e to another event scheduled on the same day)\n\nAbstract: Inspired in par
t by a personal encounter with Covid-19\, we consider two models for the s
pread of infection about a population of moving individuals. The emphasis
is upon the case of post-infection immunity. Partial results for the exist
ence (or not) of a pandemic may sometimes be proved via comparisons with b
ranching processes and percolation processes. The principal difficulties l
ie in the combination of movement and immunity.\n\nAfter a discussion of t
he relevant stochastic processes\, the two basic models will be described
and relevant results outlined. Two prominent open problems will be present
ed.\n\n(Joint work with Zhongyang Li.)\n\n \;\n\n\nMer information om
