Webinar on academia and activism in Africa
Universities have a role in producing research that has societal impact. Yet we still face many dilemmas including moving from knowledge to action; understanding how societal needs can inform research and agreeing on the manner in which academia and activism should interact. In this webinar, these challenges will be explored from a global and African perspective.
Some of the issues that will be examined are:
- How academia and activism should be linked and what boundaries exist,
- What are the consequences for research and activism when these boundaries are exceeded by individuals and institutions,
- How should we relate to political forces as we build a closer relationship between academia and activism, and
- How we promote a sustainable future through both academic and activist work.
