Biology Day in Lund
We open the day at 11.45 with a short lecture and planting of a magnolia tree. More information about the planting is available here (in Swedish).
After a hiatus last year, it’s time again for Biology Day in Lund – LU350 anniversary edition!
During the afternoon we will open the Biology Department to the public, and you can participate in a packed programme of events. Don’t miss the Biology Show, with two exciting and family-oriented performances.
Or why not drop in for the chance to ask questions and listen to answers from our own ”celebrities”, Jessica Abbott, Marie Dacke and Åke Lindström. Send in your questions to fragor [at] biol [dot] lu [dot] se. Professor emeritus Bengt Olle Bengtsson has also made a film about the history of Lund University. We will show the film at regular intervals all afternoon.
Discover our beautiful microscopy and other research photographs at our photo exhibition. If you are curious about microscopy and would like to learn more, there will be a demonstration of our microscopes. You can also take a look at our world-famous wind tunnel.
Our museum, Biologiska museet, will show parts of their collection and tell you their story. You might even have the chance to get to know some really “creepy” live animals.
You can’t have a Biology Day without a scavenger hunt. Come for the scavenger hunt and sharpen your knowledge of the living world.
The show and most talks will be in Swedish, but there is no problem to see the exhibitions and ask questions in English. All participants speak English.
Part of Sölvegatan will be closed to motor vehicles during April due to the building of the tramway.
