Digiwork Open House
09.15-10.15 "Digitalized Work Lives" Seminar with the Digiwork project team.
The seminar will present the Digiwork project that has explored how digitalisation affects our work lives. We will present scenarios that illustrate the work lives of different professionals including teachers, nurses, estate agents, lorry drivers. Through cross-disciplinary analysis of these scenarios a number of analytical themes have emerged. The seminar will provide a background and introduction to our poster session, where some scenarios are brought to life with cartoon strips.
10.15-10.45 Poster session with fika
10.45-12.00 "Enterprise on the move: Digital transformation of the office" Seminar with Melissa Gregg
Abstract: From WeWork to LiquidSpace, Grind to Spacious, coworking operators and third party workspace providers are building a new business ecosystem outside of the traditional enterprise. This next generation of business activity is arising from space-as-service venues that transform the physical infrastructure for office space to meet the requirements of a fast-paced digital economy. There are three converging factors fueling the rise of the on-demand office: the rise of contract work, disruption in leasing models for business operations and the need for enterprises to manage contingent, globally distributed work teams. In each case, independent workers are building careers and professional networks using IT infrastructure provided by companies that house members, not employees. The on-demand office is the AirBnB for big business, part of a larger trend in consumer-led workplace transformation. The role of technology in facilitating this change will be the focus of discussion.
