Role of DNA Research and Archeology in Migration Research

Seminarium
This event organised by Pufendorf Institute's Migration Initiative is on the ‘Role of DNA Research and Archeology in Migration Research’.

A small but increasing number of studies have begun to investigate the phenomenon of migration itself. These studies point the way towards an understanding of migrations as dynamic processes in the past. Isotopic analysis for instance improve our understanding of dietary content and conditions for early migrants, whilst determining geographical origins through the analysis of stable and radiogenic isotopes in skeletal tissue samples from archaeological sites. This seminar will also discuss the challenges, misuses and problematic aspects of using DNA research and archeology in migration research.

Programme:

13.00- 13.15
Coffee and refreshments
