Summary, in English
support of business processes from standardized software package such as
enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. To gain support adoption of such
standardized information and communication technologies (ICTs) demands that
either the system is adjusted to existing business processes or that business processes are adjusted to the system’s inherited processes. In both cases it can be claimed that it could result in alignment problems. In current research alignment often refer to actions taken during the process of designing and implementing new software. Implicitly embedded in the alignment terminology is a one-shot approach with the objective to harmonize business processes and supporting technology. This paper explores the idea that having an enterprise architecture (EA) perspective can increase alignment between businesses and ERPs and thereby gaining organization-technology synchronization. It is suggested that organization-technology synchronization would be a more appropriate concept, since an organization’s business processes as well as the technology used are continuously evolving and constantly needs to be realigned.
The suggestion is that EA could be used as a tool that supports
synchronization and that adoption of EA definitely could be a way of
supporting long term alignment as synchronization between business processes
and supporting technologies in the form of ERPs.
