A comparative analysis of three opinion-based texts from Hufvudstadsbladet and three from Dagens Nyheter. The primary purpose of the thesis is to study how the narrative about hatred of Swedes in Finland, during the Covid-19 pandemic, is either deconstructed or reproduced in the two newspapers, as well as distinguish the differences and similarities between them. The secondary purpose is to, based on the theoretical framework and the historical background, discuss how Sweden and Svenskfinlands, or Swedish Finlands, view on their neighbouring country is reflected in the material and results of the analysis.

Therefore, the theoretical framework includes theories of imagined communities and the perception of others in relation to national identity. The methodological structure is based on a comparative analysis categorized into four different narrative thematizations that are decided by a smaller narrative analysis of the general themes in the material. Lastly, it is concluded in the final discussion that the similarities between the two newspapers are more prominent than the differences. The similarity is the newspapers main tendency to deconstruct the narrative about hatred of Swedes in Finland, whilst the difference is that it is also reproduced in Dagens Nyheter unlike in Hufvudstadsbladet.
