En Nada hay algo: Nada de Carmen Laforet desde la mirada de la censura franquista
Författare
Summary, in English
This paper investigates Carmen Laforet's Nada through the perspective of censorship. It focuses on the historical context and the machinery of the censorship process in Francoist Spain. The research aims to analyse how Laforet's literary style creates an opportunity for publication despite the critical touch in terms of content. The analytical part takes as its starting point the fluid theory of allegory as suggested by Walter Benjamin. The idea is that such a theory can reinforce the hypothesis that allegory is used in the work by the author as a way of criticising the decadence in Spain at that time and simultaneously avoiding censorship. The results of this work support the hypothesis and show that Laforet's literary style creates a critical tone towards her contemporary time. They also show how this literary style in combination with other factors, such as the censorship machinery and the role of women, allows the work to be published in the complicated climate of the 1940s.
