Password change
For students and employees at Lund University
For security reasons, everyone at Lund University will need to change their LU account password ("Lucat password") . This page guides you through the process.
By 13 December, everyone must have changed their passwords.
If you changed your password on or after 15 November 2024, you do not need to change it.

Frequently asked questions
Here, we will continue adding guides and instructions.
Changing the password
In the first instance, follow the instructions provided in Passport carefully so that your new password fulfils all requirements. If you have chosen a randomly generated password, it may still not fulfil all requirements, so choose carefully.
If it still does not work, try this:
- Make sure you have an updated browser.
- Clear the cache and cookies in the current browser, restart the browser and try again.
- Restart your computer.
If you changed your password on or after 15 November 2024, you do not need to change it.
However, if you changed your password on or before 14 November, you will have to change it.
- It is important that you remember the password, otherwise you will have to go through the whole process again.
- It is best to create a unique password that you remember without having to write it down.
- Another method is to use the password manager built into your browser.
Yes, you can be at home, but you will need to use the LU VPN.
The easiest way is to be physically present on the campus in Lund, Malmö, Helsingborg or Ljungbyhed. If you know that you will be on campus before 13 December, you can wait until then to change your password.
Guide
You may be a student at Lund University as well as a doctoral student or other type of employee at Lund University. In that case, you have two accounts (user IDs). Both accounts need new passwords. You choose which account (user ID) to change in Passport, and you need to change your password twice if you have two user accounts.
Guides are available here. Select the one that suits you best:
I can identify myself with a Swedish e-identification (Freja eID+ or Mobilt BankID)

New password not working when logging in to my computer (PC)
It may take some time before your new password is updated in all systems. Use your old password until the new one takes effect.
If you have a managed computer, use your “Lucat password” (i.e. the password of your LU account) when you log in to your computer. When you change the password, the computer needs to retrieve information that this has been done. This usually happens automatically after a certain period of time, but if the new password has not been updated the following day, it is possible to force the computer to do it.

Eduroam is the wireless network available at Lund University and at many other universities around the world.
- If you are a Lund University employee, you may have a "hanterad" (managed) computer. You should get a login box after your current session with Eduroam has expired. Enter your own Lucat ID with @lu.se and the new password you have chosen.
- For Iphones, you should get a login box where you enter the new password.
- For Android, you may need to ‘forget’ Eduroam in the settings and then reconnect according to the guides below.

It may take a while for the password to take effect. Wait a little and try again.
More answers to frequently asked questions
If you enter an incorrect password several times in the same service, the service may appear to be locked. Wait for about twenty minutes, then try again with the correct password, and it should work.
If you are a Lund University employee, you may have a managed computer. Settings, security and updates are managed centrally by the Division of IT and the faculties’ IT organisations.
The managed computers are part of the pc.lu.se or mac.lu.se environments. These have, for example, the Software Center and Self Service applications installed.
We are doing our utmost to ensure that no organisations are affected, and we are paying special attention to things like exam weeks.
Passwords that are not changed in time will be reset. If this has happened to you, you can regain access to your account by following the relevant support guide below.
