Högerradikalism i dagens Tyskland - En idé och ideologianalys av AfDs valprogram inför Förbundsdagsvalet 2025

The political landscape in Germany changed dramatically when Alternative für Deutschland became the third largest party. The party started out as eurosceptic but has developed its ideology into being anti-migration and radical right populist while experiencing internal conflicts and becoming controversial in mainstream media. This culminated when the party was classified as right-wing extremist by German intelligence services. In light of the party's ideological development and controversy, this study was conducted with the purpose of analysing if Cas Mudde’s definition of today's radical right-wing populism could be found in the election programme for 2025. The study is conducted via a qualitative idea and ideology analysis based on ideal types of nativism, populism and authoritarianism. The study concludes that these ideologies can be found in the election, but in very different forms and not as radical as one might think based on the party’s rhetoric and statements or the media portrayal of the party.
