European GIS Course Developments-Partner expectations, experiences and results in the E-GIS Project
Författare
Summary, in English
The E-GIS project partnership comprised 10 partners (universities, organisations and private bodies) from 6 European countries; Bulgaria, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden.
The E-GIS project was initiated in order to:
• Establish competent nettworks between universities and private bodies for cooperation on an European level within the GIS area – both for this project and for future cooperation.
• Share best practice for developing and implementing high level GIS courses for target groups in Europe - and also in developing countries.
• Contribute to competence development among international GIS user organisations.
Eight course modules, comprising a one year study (67.5 ECTS), were developed and tested, as free-of-charge courses, on a number of European students, campus students and employees – and a number of non-European students.
The great number of both categories of students, who applied for participation in the test courses, demonstrated that the anticipated need for this type of courses was correct.
After a comprehensive evaluation, we now possess valuable knowledge and experiences on how to develop further both pedagogic and administrative issues – and consider this Leonardo Pilot Project as very successful.
