Meet the panel
Moderator: Magnus Nilsson
Magnus Nilsson will moderate this panel discussion. He is currently Head of Division for the Research, Collaboration and Innovation division at Lund University. Previously, he worked at Sweden's Ministry for Foreign Affairs as Chief of Staff and later as State Secretary for Minister for Foreign Affairs Ann Linde.
Panelist: Agga Soediono
Agga Soediono is currently working with policy-making and bilateral relations in the Office of Children's Issues, Overseas Citizens Services Directorate, Bureau of Consular Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. He is also the co-chair in the Department of State's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Council.
Soediono's career in diplomacy began in 2016 at the U.S. Consulate General in Chennai where he served as Deputy Chief in the Consular Information Unit and U.S. Mission to India's Coordinator for Women's Empowerment portfolio. Soediono has also served as Acting American Citizens Services Chief at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi.

Panelist: Charlotta Sparre
Charlotta Sparre is since September 1st the Deputy Director of SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute). She has 30 years’ experience of international diplomacy, with a special focus on the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region. Prior to joining SIPRI she served as the Director of the Swedish Dialogue Institute for the Middle East and North Africa (2019-2024) and before that she was director of the Foreign Ministry Diplomatic Training Programme (2017-2019) and served as Ambassador of Sweden to Egypt (2013-2017) and to Jordan (2008-2013). Previous posts include serving as Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the EU (2003-2008), as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Sweden in Cairo (1999-2003), and different positions in the Swedish Foreign Ministry since 1986.
Sparre is a member of the board of the Centre for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies at Lund University. During the last decades Sparre has been an active participant in several Track II meetings and academic conferences on the Middle East. She has published numerous articles and was the co-editor of the book Reconstructing the Middle East (Routledge). In 2017, she became a member of the Swedish Women’s Mediation Network.
